I work with a lot of children and adults that want to improve and optimize their learning potential and emotional resilience. The program that I have found to be exceptional is the Learning Enhancement Acupressure Program (LEAP).
LEAP was developed by Dr. Charles T. Krebs, Ph.D. and Susan McCrossin, B.APP.SC. Dr. Charles Krebs is a renowned brain specialist and Kinesiologist. Dr. Krebs travels the world teaching Kinesiology and Brain Integration.
Dr. Krebs was introduced to Kinesiology and the concept of Brain Integration through a Kinesiologist in 1982 following his recovery from quadriplegia from a deep-sea accident. He was so astounded with the benefits that he received from Kinesiology that he began developing the Learning Enhancement Acupressure Program.
Charles has been working with the application of Kinesiology and acupressure techniques for the correction of specific learning problems for over twenty-five years with on-going development of the LEAP program based on the most recent discoveries in Neuroscience.
Dr. Krebs has an extensive background in science both as a research scientist and university lecturer, and he has over twenty years of clinical experience.
Dr. Krebs has written two books, A Revolutionary Way of Thinking and Nutrition for the Brain.
What can LEAP be used for?
- Poor memory
- Poor concentration
- Behavioral issues
- ADD & ADHD
- Poor ability to spell
- Inability to do maths
- Poor problem solving
- Emotional regulation
- Learning disabilities
- Reading disabilities
- The list goes on ….
The LEAP program takes around 20 sessions to complete. There are four Modules that are followed.
- Determine Logic and Gestalt dominant hemispheres
- Assess pathways (cortical, limbic, amygdala, anterior nuclear and -hippocampal)
- Assess Corpus Callosum functioning
- Assess Wernickes, Broca’s, Auditory Integrative Pathways and Left/Right – Integrative Pathways
- Assess Reticular Activating System
- Assess Emotional Modulatory Circuit
- Assess Mental Modulatory Circuit
- Assess Vestibular System
- Assess Auditory Pathways
- Assess Visual Pathways
- Assess Auditory/Visual Integration Pathways
- Assess short term memory
- Assess long term memory
- Assess Working Memory
The LEAP program is a very extensive program that works on all areas and levels of the brain. If we are stressed or have been stressed when trying to work out a problem or learn a new skill, most likely we have internalized this stress and now find learning difficult. Though the LEAP program is designed to begin at Module 1 and finish with module 4, it can be broken down to suit an individual’s needs.
